Smart invitations

Overview

Creating a Smart Invitation

This guide will show you how to create a smart invitation, an SMS invitation that is triggered by a specific event rather than being sent immediately. Smart invitations allow you to time your outreach based on user actions or profile updates.

What is a Smart Invitation?

A smart invitation is an SMS that is automatically sent based on a specified event. Unlike a regular SMS invitation, the smart invitation is triggered by a set condition, allowing you to align your messaging with user actions. Smart invitations will continue to send based on the event until they are manually closed. Note that smart invitations target all participants within your survey or chat audience.

Events That Can Trigger a Smart Invitation

You can select from the following events to trigger your smart invitation:

  1. User Subscribes to Domain: Sent when a user subscribes to the domain where your survey or chat is hosted.

  2. User Completes a Chat: Sent when a user completes a chat session.

  3. User Disqualified from Chat: Sent when a user is disqualified from a chat session.

  4. Subscriber Profile Attribute Changed: Sent when there is a change in the profile attribute of a subscriber.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. Open your chat and go to the Distribute section from the left-hand menu.

  2. Scroll to Invitations and click Create, then choose Smart Invitation.

  3. Fill in the Name and optional Description.

  4. Select the Engagement Locale. For single-locale chats this is prefilled. For multi-lingual chats, choose which locale version of the chat participants will receive. The invitation email and chat branding will match the selected locale.

  5. Set the Target. Smart invitations are no longer limited to all participants. You can now:

    • Target All participants - all eligible participants receive the invitation when the smart condition is met.

    • Create a custom filter - use profile attributes, participation history, or other criteria to target only a specific segment. Only participants who match both the filter and the smart condition will receive the invitation.

  6. The Target field also shows the Preferred Locale filter as a chip (e.g., "English (Canada)"). This ensures only participants whose PreferredLocale matches the selected Engagement Locale are targeted.

  7. Configure Sample Settings (optional) - check "Limit number of invitations" to cap how many invitations are sent.

  8. Define the Smart Condition - pick one of the trigger events from the list above.

  9. Set the Delivery Timeframe - choose to send immediately when the event occurs, or after a specified delay.

  10. Compose your Message - write the SMS or email content.

  11. Click CREATE to save and activate the smart invitation.

A summary at the bottom of the drawer confirms your configuration (e.g., "Invite participants immediately after User subscribes to domain").

Note: Smart invitations show the message: "All Eligible participants will be sent an invitation when the Smart Condition is met." This is because the actual number of recipients depends on real-time event conditions and cannot be predicted in advance. To view final delivery numbers, check the delivery summary after the invitation has been running.

Managing Smart Invitations

To edit or stop a smart invitation, go back to the “Smart Invitations” section. Locate the invitation you want to adjust or close.

This setup ensures your messages are timely and relevant, increasing participant engagement with your surveys and chats.
