What is an invitation?

An invitation is the primary way to deliver a chat to your subscribed participants. When you create an invitation, you define who receives the chat, when they receive it, and which message they see.

Creating an Invitation

  1. Open your chat and go to the Distribute section from the left-hand menu.

  2. Scroll down to Invitations and click Create.

  3. Fill in the invitation form:

    • Name - A label for this invitation (internal only, not visible to participants).

    • Description (optional) - Notes about the purpose of this invitation.

    • Engagement locale - Determines which locale version of the chat the participants will receive, and applies locale-specific branding to the invitation email and the chat experience. For single-locale chats, this is prefilled automatically. For multi-lingual chats, select a locale from the dropdown, which shows all locales configured on the chat. The Target field only becomes selectable after you choose an Engagement Locale.

    • Delivery - Set the timeframe for when the invitation opens and closes. You can also set a response limit to close the invitation after a certain number of completions.

    • Target - Choose which participants receive the invitation. You can target all subscribed members, create a custom filter based on profile attributes, chat responses or participation data, target specific IDs, or use random sampling.

    • Message - Customize the SMS or email message participants will receive with the invitation link.

Preferred Locale Targeting

Inside the Target dropdown, there is a toggle: "Only target members with the same preferred locale as the chat locale". When enabled (blue), the invitation only targets participants whose PreferredLocale profile attribute matches the selected Engagement Locale. When disabled, the invitation targets participants based on your audience filter regardless of their PreferredLocale.

Monitoring an Invitation

After creating an invitation, you can view its status, delivery steps, and a summary of participant completions from the Invitations list. The list also displays the Locale column so you can see which engagement locale each invitation targets.
