How to target specific participant ids for an invitation

Target specific participant ids

You can target specific participant IDs to invite exact members to participate in a chat.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. Open your chat and go to the Distribute section from the left-hand menu.

  2. Scroll to Invitations and click Create.

  3. Fill in the Name and optional Description.

  4. Select the Engagement Locale. For single-locale chats this is prefilled. For multi-lingual chats, choose which locale version of the chat participants will receive.

  5. From the Target dropdown, choose Populate list of Participants with IDs.

  6. Paste the IDs to be targeted in the dialog and click NEXT.

  7. IDs will be validated. Valid IDs are accepted; invalid IDs are flagged (see below). Click CREATE to confirm the target list.

  8. Configure the Delivery timeframe and Message content.

  9. Click CREATE in the invitation drawer to create the invitation.

Preferred Locale Toggle and ID Validation

Inside the Target dropdown, there is a toggle: "Only target members with the same preferred locale as the chat locale".

  • When enabled (blue): During the ID validation step, any participant whose PreferredLocale does not match the selected Engagement Locale is marked as invalid. These participants will not receive the invitation. Only IDs with a matching PreferredLocale pass validation and are targeted.

  • When disabled: All IDs that exist and are subscribed pass validation, regardless of their PreferredLocale. Every valid participant receives the invitation in the selected Engagement Locale.

Tip for multi-lingual chats: If you have a list of participant IDs that spans multiple languages, you can create one invitation per locale, paste the same full list of IDs each time, and enable the toggle. The validation step will automatically filter out participants who don't match each locale, so each participant only receives the invitation in their preferred language.
