Overview
When you invite participants by SMS, you can optionally include the contact card in that same invitation. This is useful for participants who never saved the contact card the first time around and without it, their phone won't recognize your number on future sends, and messages can land looking like they're from an unknown or random number.
This is a per-invitation toggle. It's off by default, so turning it on for one invitation doesn't change behaviour for any other invitation in the panel.
How to enable it
Create a new invitation.
In the Message section, under SMS Invitation, you'll see the standard SMS invitation message field.
Below it, toggle on Send contact card with this SMS.
A Contact card message field appears. This is the text that goes out alongside the contact card. It comes pre-filled with a default message, which you can edit per invitation if you want to adjust the message or add panel-specific detail.
Continue setting up the invitation (timeframe, targeting, etc.) as normal, then click on Create.
Participants who receive this invitation will get the standard SMS invitation plus the contact card and your message, prompting them to save it if they haven't already.
Tip: The contact card's branding (name, image) isn't set per invitation — you can personalize it for your panel via the Brand Settings page.
When to use it
First few invitations after signup. Include it on the first few sends a new participant receives, for example, their Welcome Survey invite, in case the contact card didn't get saved during initial signup. This catches most cases where someone missed the step the first time.
Periodic resends after that. Beyond the initial window, only enable it occasionally, roughly every 3-6 months. There's no need to send it with every invitation; most participants who saved it the first time don't need reminding, and repeating it too often adds noise to the SMS experience for no benefit.
Consider asking first. If you're planning a periodic resend to a panel, consider adding a quick question to an upcoming survey asking whether participants have already saved the contact card. Anyone who confirms they have can be excluded from that round's resend, so you're only re-sending it to people who actually need it.
What to avoid
Don't leave it on by default for a panel's ongoing invitations. It's built to be off by default for a reason. Sending the contact card with every single SMS is redundant for most participants and doesn't add value once they've already saved it.
Don't skip customizing the message if your panel has specific branding or tone expectations. The default message is a solid generic option, but the field is editable for a reason.
