Step 1: How to Manually Create Contacts and Import Points Data in BHN

Updated over 3 months ago
  1. Click "Points"

2. Click "Contacts"

3. Click "Import Points Data"

4. Here's where you can upload your CSV file.

5. You can read the article here for more information

6. Here's an example:
Reference ID = Participant ID on Rival

  • Recommended to have this so you can cross-reference the data with Rival

    Email

  • BHN requires an email address to create a contact record on their platform. This is a mandatory field

    First Name

  • The BHN email template pipes the participant's first name from this field. If you are not collecting first names, be sure to update all the BHN email templates to use a more generic term instead

    Comment

  • Optional field

    Points

  • Left this blank for now, as I'm creating all the contacts before adding points

    Country

  • This is important to have as it affects the currency of your gift cards

7. Upload your CSV file

8. You will see an option that allows you to map the columns of your CSV file to the fields in BHN

9. After you've mapped all the fields, click "Continue"

10. Click "Next >>"

11. On the summary page, you can see one "new contact" has been created

12. You can upload a file containing various types of contacts, both new and old, and they will be displayed under the corresponding tabs for review

13. Since we are creating the contact record but not yet awarding points, please turn off the email notifications unless you want the participants to be informed about their account creation

14. Click "Complete Import"

15. Click "View Contacts"

16. Here's the account we just uploaded

17. Scroll all the way to the right and click the "..."

18. Here you have the option to view the contact's history

19. Click here.

20. You can also edit the contact's info. If you need to make bulk edits, uploading a new CSV file is recommended

21. You can also manually adjust points. If you need to make bulk edits, uploading a new CSV file is recommended

22. Note: BHN doesn't NOT give you the option on how you want to handle blank cells.

I.e., Even if you are not updating the country, please ensure that the field is included in your CSV file. Otherwise, the original data you uploaded (USA) will be erased and replaced with a blank value

You can deduct points by entering "-5"

23. Click "Import Points Data" and follow the same steps as above

24. After uploading your file, you will see that there is one existing contact. This indicates that the points we added were for an existing contact

25. You'll likely want participants to know they've earned points for their participation, so be sure to enable the notification!
