Grid questions collect data on multiple items or dimensions by presenting a set of identical options for respondents to choose from. These types of questions allow the participants to respond to a rapid fire of questions where the same set of answers are repeated for different questions, statements, attributes, etc.
Each grid question card will contain
Question - A main question that you want to ask the participant about a list of items
Statements- A list of items which you want to inquire the participants about
Answers- A set of answers that will be repeated for each of the items mentioned above
There are two types of grid cards available on the Rival Platform based on choice selection available for 'Answers'
Single Choice Grid Card
This card has a single choice selection functionality for Answers. Participants can only select one option from the available choices.
Multiple Choice Grid Card
This card has a multiple choice selection functionality for Answers. Participants can make their selection based on the upper and lower limits chosen by the chat author.
Adding a grid question
Create a new question.
Choose Grid question as the question type (example is shown for a multiple choice grid)
Enter the main question text.
Add your statements (At least one)
Add the answer choices. These choices will appear for each statement. (Answer choices should be at least two). The choice settings available will be same as the ones available for single and multi choice question choices.
You can mask responses from a previous question, hidden variable or profile attribute as statements or answers.
What respondents will see
When the grid question is present to a respondent, they will first see the main question.
Once they click on Let's begin, they will see a pop up with the main question on the top along with one statement and all the answers. The respondents can click on next to go to next set of statement and answers. This repeats for every statement in the grid question
After selecting an answer for each statement, respondents click Submit. The next question in the flow is then displayed.
Grid Cards in Multi-lingual Chats
When working with grid cards in a multi-lingual chat:
Statement text and answer text are locale-specific - enter different text for each locale by switching locales.
Grid layout, randomization, masking, and exclusive settings are global - they apply across all locales and are marked with a 🌐 globe icon.
Adding a statement or answer from any locale creates it in all locales (blank in the others for you to fill in).
Removing a statement or answer removes it from all locales.
Preview renders the grid with the correct locale-specific text per locale.
