You can edit an existing custom profile attribute to update its label, description, or default question. Editing helps you keep your participant data organized and accurate without needing to create a new attribute from scratch.
From the app header or central navigation, click on the Participants / Community tab.
In the left-hand navigation, click on the Attributes tab.
Go to the Custom Attributes tab to view the list of existing custom profile attributes.
Locate the attribute you want to update. You can scroll through the list or use the search bar to find it quickly.
Click the More Actions (⋮) icon next to the attribute name and select Edit attribute.
A drawer will open on the right side of the screen showing the current details of the selected attribute. You can update the following fields:
Attribute Label – Edit the name or wording to better reflect its purpose.
Attribute Description – Update or add context to help other users understand how this attribute is used.
Default Question – Modify the text that appears when profile questions are used in chat surveys.
PII Checkbox – Update this selection if the data now includes or excludes personally identifiable information.
⚠️ Note: You cannot change the attribute type or edit choice options for Single Choice or Multiple Choice attributes once they are created. To make changes to the options, create a new attribute instead.
Once your edits are complete, click Update to apply the updates.
The changes will take effect immediately for any new usage of this attribute in chats or participant filters.
