Purpose and Scope
Several Rival customers adhere to accessibility standards to meet the needs of their customers. For Rival to partner with these customers, the Rival Platform needs to meet the same accessibility guidelines as the rest of their service offering. To meet these guidelines the Rival Platform follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The WCAG is an internationally shared standard for making web content accessible to people with disabilities.
Policy
We use the following policy to govern how new features are released on the Rival Platform, ensuring that every product release remains compliant with WCAG guidelines and standards.
Accessibility Compliance Level
The Rival Platform is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, which provide a comprehensive framework for improving the accessibility of web content across a wide range of user needs and devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.
WCAG 2.1 defines three levels of conformance:
Level A – Basic web accessibility features
Level AA – Addresses the most common and impactful accessibility barriers
Level AAA – The highest standard, offering enhanced accessibility accommodations
The Rival Platform meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance as a baseline. This ensures our content and interactions are accessible to individuals with a variety of disabilities, including:
Blindness and low vision
Deafness and hearing loss
Limited mobility
Speech impairments
Photosensitivity
Cognitive and learning disabilities
While AAA-level criteria may be met in some areas, they are not explicitly tested or guaranteed as part of our compliance process.
We are committed to ongoing improvements to ensure that our platform remains accessible and inclusive to the widest possible audience.
Platform Scope
The Rival Platform is composed of two core components:
Administration Interface – The portion of the Rival Platform that Rival customers log into to create, distribute, and report on chats.
Responding Interface – The portion of the Rival Platform used by chat participants (i.e., customers of Rival customers) to provide market research feedback.
WCAG standards apply to the Responding Interface only. The Administration Interface does not currently conform to WCAG guidelines.
Maintaining Accessibility Standards
Rival follows a strict and structured process to ensure that all Responding Interface functionality aligns with our accessibility standards.
Accessibility verification is a required component of quality assurance for any new feature development that impacts the Responding Interface. As part of our QA process, we apply a comprehensive Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) checklist, with accessibility included as a core compliance criterion.
To maintain conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, the platform is reviewed and regularly tested using automated tools to ensure that all Responding Interface functionality continues to meet accessibility requirements.
As with any software development process, accessibility-related defects may be introduced unintentionally. Rival addresses all such issues in accordance with our defined Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
