Managing Users & Granting Access in a Research Domain

How do I manage a user an update their permissions?

Updated over a month ago

As a Research Domain Administrator, you have full control over user management within your research domain. You can assign roles, update permissions, and revoke access without requiring platform support, ensuring efficient and secure collaboration.

User Management

  1. Go to Research Domain Settings

    • Navigate to Settings under the relevant Research Domain.

  2. Access the "Manage Users" Tab

    • Access a complete list of users who have access to the research domain

    • View user’s access role, status and last logged in date & time.

  3. User Management Actions

    • Resend Invite:
Resend account setup invitation to a user who is still in “Invited” status.

    • Update access role:
Use the edit user option to edit user’s access role for the research domain.

How to Grant User Access

  1. Go to Research Domain Settings

    • Navigate to Settings under the relevant Research Domain.

  2. Access the "Manage Users" Tab

    • Select Manage Users to view a list of users with domain access.

  3. Invite User:
If the user already has an account with Rival, you can use the invite user flow to give them access to your research domain without any additional set up.

Click on the Invite User button and provide the required details:

    • Email Address: Enter the user’s email.

    • Role Selection: Choose the appropriate role from the dropdown menu.
      (Domain Administrator, User, or Viewer).

How to Remove User Access

  1. Go to Research Domain Settings

    • Navigate to Settings under the relevant Research Domain.

  2. Access the "Manage Users" Tab

    • Select Manage Users to view a list of users with domain access.

  3. Remove User:

    • Click on the three dot actions menu next to the user you want to remove.

    • Click on 'Remove user' to revoke their access to the research domain. This action does not delete their Rival account—only their access to the specific domain.

Note: Editing a user’s name, suspending an account, resetting MFA, or deleting a user account are Platform Administrator-only actions. Please reach out to your CS Representative to submit a ticket to make any of these changes.
