Overview
Preview profiles and custom participants are tools used to test various chat scenarios. Chat scenarios vary depending on display logic and use of profile attributes.
A profile attribute, like location, may be used to decide which questions are shown to what participants. In this example, the question is only shown to participants who identified their location as βCanada.β
In order to view this question in the chat preview, we need to set up a custom participant or preview profile that mimics being a participant who is from βCanada.β

Set up your display logic using profile attributes
Open the chat
3. Click 'Skip Unless 1 Rule Applies' to add display logic
4. Set up the display logic using a profile attribute
5. Select the appropriate operator, in this example we'll use "Is"
6. Select the value, in this example we'll use "π¨π¦ Canada"
7. Click "SAVE"
8. Click "PREVIEW CHAT"
When previewing a chat that contains display logic using profile variables, you'll need to configure a preview to mimic a participant which meets the display logic criteria.
In this example, our participant must be from 'Canada.' You can set up the preview profile one of two ways: by using either a custom participant or preview profile. See below π
Please be aware that custom participants are required to be set up each time you enter the preview window. Whereas, creating a preview profile will save your settings for future reuse.
9. Click "Preview on Web"
10. Notice how the question is not displaying.
11. Click "Unprofiled participant"
12. Click "Custom participant"
13. Select the profile attribute of choice.
14. In this example, we'll click "π¨π¦ Canada"
15. Click "APPLY"
16. Now the questions will appear.
17. Click this icon.
18. Click "Manage preview profiles"
19. Click "CREATE PROFILE"
20. Name the preview profile.
21. Set up using the profile using the attributes used to display various questions in the chat.
22. In this example, "π¨π¦ Canada"
23. Click "SAVE"
24. Exit the pop-up window
25. Click "PREVIEW CHAT"
26. Click "Preview on Web"
27. Notice how the question does not appear.
28. Click "Unprofiled participant"
29. Now the preview profile we have created will appear. In this example, we created the preview profile "Canadian"
30. Click "APPLY"
31. Now the questions will appear
