Various Ways Users Engage with a Link

Overview

This guide will show you how to control the number of times a participant can complete a chat.

Engagement Options:

When creating a link you can scroll down to engagements and choose between:

  • Single engagement

  • Engagement per visit

  • Engagement per ended engagement

  • Engagement per event(Unavailable)

Single engagement
The participant can only answer the chat once. If they return, they continue where they left off. If the chat is already completed, they may see a message that it has ended.

Note: Participants using a private/incognito window or a different browser/device may be able to restart a single engagement, as they won’t be recognized as the same user. To prevent this, add a unique external ID to each link so responses are limited to one per participant.

Engagement per visit
Every time a participant opens the link, a new chat starts from the beginning creating a new participant record. Previous responses are not saved.

Engagement per ended engagement
A new chat can only start after the previous one is finished. If the chat is still in progress, the participant will return to the same session.

Engagement per event (Unavailable)
A new chat starts for each event. Each chat is linked to a specific event or session.
