Overview
Numeric Slider helps you collect a structured numeric response inside a chat without asking participants to type a number manually. Instead, participants choose a value using a slider. This is useful when you want responses to stay within a defined range and appear in a consistent format.
For researchers, the value of Numeric Slider is twofold. It creates a smoother participant experience for number based questions, and it gives you more control over how responses are collected.
When to use Numeric Slider Card
Use Numeric Slider when your question has a clear numeric range and participants should choose a value within that range. It works especially well when you want an answer that feels quick, intuitive, and easy to standardize across participants.
Good use cases | Why it works well |
Number of items purchased | Participants can select a count quickly without typing |
Price expectations or budget ranges | You can guide answers to a realistic minimum and maximum |
Ratings on a bounded scale | The slider makes the scale easy to understand visually |
Time-based answers such as days, weeks, or hours | Unit labels make the value clearer at a glance |
Estimation questions in a concept or product test | The interaction feels lightweight and engaging in Chat |

Set Step and choose Decimals. These control how precise the answer can be. Step is the amount the slider changes with each movement.
Turn on Unit Label if needed.
Enter Unit characters and choose label position. This controls how the value appears to participants. Preview on the right shows you how the value and unit will be displayed.
Save your settings.
3. Preview your Numeric Slider question in chat preview
Before publishing your chat, preview the slider and test it as if you were a participant. Make sure the starting value feels appropriate, the range covers realistic answers, the step size is easy to use, and the label reads naturally in the preview.
