What are Quotas?

Introduction

Quotas help you control how many participants qualify for a chat based on their profile attributes, survey responses, or other variables. This guide walks you through how to set up, manage, and monitor quotas in your research studies.

Understanding Quotas: Key Terms

Before setting up quotas, here are some key terms you’ll come across:

  • Quota – A rule that determines how many participants can qualify based on certain criteria.

  • Chat Completes – A system quota that limits the total number of completed responses in a study.

  • Bucket – A counter tracking responses for a specific question or variable. Once a bucket reaches its limit, participants matching that criteria will be marked as over quota.

  • Completes – The number of participants who fully finish a chat.

  • Target – The maximum number of responses allowed for a quota bucket.

  • Over Target Allowance – A buffer allowing more participants to qualify before marking them as over quota.

  • Over Quota (OQ) – When a participant reaches a quota check and at least one of their corresponding quota buckets is full.

  • Over Quota Count – The number of participants who were over quota based on the set target.
