Open Ended Questions

The open-ended questions allow a participant to provide an answer to a question during a chat. This could be in the form of text, number, Image or Video.

Text Open End

  • This question type allows the participant to submit a text response

In the card settings, you have an option to enable or disable copy & paste settings. By default, this feature is enabled, which means that respondents will not be able to copy and paste text into the answer field.

Numeric Open End

This question type allows the participant to submit a numeric response. They will not be able to enter anything apart from numbers.

Using the 'Settings' button, chat author can set the minimum and maximum limits for a number that can be entered by the participant and/or allow decimals.

Image Open End

This question type allows the participant to upload an image as a response. They will be able to either upload an existing image on their device using the upload image button or click a picture directly using the take photo button.

Video Open End

This question type allows the participant to respond with a video. They can either upload an existing video using the upload video button or record a video directly using the record video button

The image and video open end questions do not have an upload limit currently and support all standard media file formats. The upload might be impacted or limited by factors like upload speed, carrier, device memory, browser settings etc. of the respondent.

Open Ended Cards in Multi-lingual Chats

In a multi-lingual chat, open-ended card content is locale-specific:

  • Question/prompt text and button labels are locale-specific - enter different text per locale.

  • Card-level settings (e.g., copy/paste control, min/max limits on numeric responses) are global.

Participant responses are captured in the language they responded in. In chat data and exports, open-ended responses appear verbatim in the participant's original language.
